12-item Brief Smell Identification Test (B-SIT; Sensonics, Inc, Haddon Heights, NJ)
Rapid & Effective 5-Minute Screening Test.
This 12-item version of The Smell Identification Test(tm) is useful for detecting smell loss in situations where less than five minutes of time is available. The B-SIT has been particularly of value in population surveys and general workplace studies. The items of this self-administered test are well known in most cultures, making it a popular item in Europe, South America and Asia. This test employs the following 12 odorants: banana, chocolate, cinnamon, gasoline, lemon, onion, paint thinner, pineapple, rose, soap, smoke, and turpentine. Percentile norms, based upon nearly 4,000 subjects are available within the B-SIT Administration Manual.
