Headらは、加齢犬２年間のワクチン投与、ワクチンはβアミロイド1-42蛋白で、脳プラークの蛋白に対する抗体産生促進的に働く。
人間と同様に、βアミロイドプラークは自然に沈着するためこの研究に用いられた。

結果は、認知機能低下測定行動試験にて軽度の差異しか認めなかった。脳の生検では、プラーク自体は脳の多くの部位、学習記憶に関係する部分entorhinal cortex（内嗅皮質）で消失し、可逆性変化の可能性を示唆した。
