後世にかなり重大な影響を与えたスキャンダルなのだが、マスコミはスルー？

ワクチン＝悪・利権というステレオタイプな反応しか、マスコミには受けないのだろう・・・



論文では、

甲状腺、長鎖脂肪酸、髄液中乳酸、尿中メチルマロニル酸
内視鏡回腸・結腸ホルマリン固定サンプル

などが使用されている。
これは症例対照研究で、倫理委員会を通した方法ではなく、問題があったとのこと。

そして、MMRによる損害を受けたと信じ込んでいる親たちの弁護士から金銭授受で、利益相反（conflict of interest）問題ありとのこと

　英国の著名な医学誌「ランセット」は２日、麻疹（ましん）（はしか）、おたふくかぜ、風疹（ふうしん）の新３種混合（ＭＭＲ）ワクチンの接種と自閉症との関連性を指摘した１９９８年の同誌掲載の論文は事実に反していたとして、掲載を取り消した。

　ロイター通信によると、論文は英国の研究者がまとめたもので、欧州などではワクチンの接種が減り、はしかが流行。英国のイングランドとウェールズ地方では２００８年にはしかの患者が前年に比べて７０％増えた。

　論文の信憑（しんぴょう）性をめぐり、研究者の間では１０年以上論争が続いており、英国の評議会は先週、研究は「無責任で不正直な方法でまとめられた」との裁定を下していた。

　論文に関与した研究者は裁定に反発しているが、評議会は英国での医師登録の抹消を検討しているという。（共同）

The General Medical Council, Britain's regulator of such affairs, concluded that in his research for the Lancet paper Wakefield acted with "callous disregard" for patients by conducting invasive tests on children that were not in their best medical interests.

He also failed to obtain approval from his ethics committee for his studies and obtained blood samples for his research by offering 5 pounds to children at a birthday party, the council said.

His paper said that the results were obtained with 12 consecutive patients, when that was not the case, according to the council.

He also did not disclose that his studies were funded by lawyers who were attempting to sue the vaccine makers in court, nor that he was developing a vaccine that would have been very profitable if the MMR vaccine was discarded, the council said. The council also said it is considering withdrawing Wakefield's license to practice medicine.

利益供与というのは、必ずしも、製薬会社からだけのものではないようだ。反ワクチングループの方々の主張は、製薬業界関連の利益相反にうるさいが、出版やメディアと利益を共有する状況になっている反ワクチン運動・・・これも利益相反の変形ではないのか！

かれらは、NPOといいながら、出版による著作料や講演料をもらってるわけで、そこに利益が存在する。
